Lexie turns Two

Our busy season didn't stop after Christmas and New Years, right after all the holidays were over it was time to pack it away and then dive straight into party planning for a certain little girls second birthday. Say it isn't so…. my baby can't be TWO!

The big realization of that always comes the first time we head to Church after her birthday and her tag puts her in a two year old class room. Such a sad and happy day all at once.

How did she get so big? My baby isn't such a baby anymore….
"Lexie is two" she says!

The day of her birthday we celebrated with a yummy pizza dinner at Fralos - our favorite pizza place. Then back home to celebrate with cake. She actually wasn't a big fan of the cake, and just took a lick of frosting before she was done.

She did try to eat the candle though - apparently it looked tastier! Ha!
(Ugh…. late evening photos with awful light)

As unimpressed as Lexie was with cake, she was that excited about presents. She loves her bitty baby and clearly recognizes the boxes it comes in. She was excited about it right when she saw the box before she even opened it and dropped it to go run and get her baby!
Then came Lamby.
And more bitty baby accessories.

And her favorite present - a Princess Sofia dress up costume which she had to put on immediately. She's already worn this to the gym, pre-school drop off and any where I'll let her. If she sees it, she must wear it. Such a sweet girly girl!
I think she enjoyed her birthday and I still can't believe she is TWO!

Five on Friday

Happy Friday ya'll! We made it to the weekend - and even better it's a 3 day weekend!
I'm linking up with a few of my favorites for Five on Friday again:

- ONE -
Lexie has reverted back to climbing out of the bed many, many, many, many……. times every night. We had finally gotten into a good routine where she would lay down and go to sleep but the holidays and everything got her out of that routine. (And the crib isn't an option anymore because she can climb out of that no problem!) So earlier this week she had finally gotten quiet and I hadn't heard her get out of her bed so I went in to check on her and didn't see her in her bed, so I went to see if she climbed in with Abby and found her like this.
(Oh and it's not worth trying to talk 2 year old out of sleeping in her brand new birthday present Sophia  princess dress)

- TWO -
After Lexie's birthday party last weekend, Uncle Jeremy set up his slack line and Abby loved it! Like a slightly less sturdy balance beam. I wish we had some trees in our yard vs the park then I'd do get this for them to play on they loved it so much. I'm not sure our fence would be a good anchor point for this.  What I really want is a trampoline but Daddy says no. Boo.

- THREE -
I'm really tempted to make finishing the re-do of the kids bathroom my weekend project. I got a new shower curtain for in there and that's where it stopped. I really want to do some canvas art and frame either printable and/or bath pictures of the kids. I had some cute printables pinned but now I can't find
where I pinned them.  #pinterestproblems So now back to searching for the perfect - brush your teeth, wash your hands, ect. printable for the bathroom. Have you seen any cute ones?

- FOUR -
The weather has been lovely this week. (Sorry for those of you still dealing with snow and cold!) A little chilly in the morning but warming up between 60 and 70 in the afternoon. It's been perfect for playing outside after school. Well as long as you aren't affected by mountain cedar - which thankfully the kids and I aren't. Playing outside is great motivation to get them to pick up their rooms after quiet time as well :) So clean rooms plus running off the extra energy before dinner is a win-win in my book!
- FIVE -
Lexie hasn't liked Honey (or any dog for that matter) ever. She's always thought Honey was scary and even the neighbors puppy and the other neighbors tiny chihuahua scare her so it wasn't totally about size but Honey is pretty huge compared to Lexie. She would always give a little scream or shriek whenever Honey came near her and would even point to the door to the backyard telling me to put Honey out when we came downstairs in the morning. However today when Abby brought Honey out on the leash wanting to go for a walk, Lexie was insistent that she wanted to walk Honey. I'm not sure who was walking who but Honey was patient and walked slowly making laps around the yard with Lexie for a good 10 minutes. She even at the end when the neighbor came out and wanted to see Honey, went up and petted her which is pretty dang impressive for a girl who used to want nothing to do with Honey at all.
Have a great weekend ya'll!

Houston Zoo Lights

One of the night while we were in Houston with all the cousins, we headed down to the zoo to see the zoo lights. While waiting for it to open the littles were fascinated with the ducks in the water, even more so impressed with the nutria! Ha!

The lights in the zoo were very pretty!
Abby and maybe Micah's favorite was the reptile house - they will love alligators and in here they have an white gator (not albino because he has blue not red eyes)

My favorite was seeing the elephant mama and baby. I think it was Lexie's too as she didn't want to leave to see anything else.
Micah sat on Daddy's shoulder's to get a better view of the elephants.

Sadly for my kids not too many more of the animals were out and able to be seen so they weren't super impressed with the zoo lights. They'd prefer to go during the day and see the animals. Lexie especially had a hard time understanding that the animals weren't out and would get very excited whenever we could see any animals - even if it was just more ducks.

At the end my cousin Tara spoiled (in the best way possible) all the kids with light up swords and necklaces. They are still big hits around here!
Since the line at the potty was really long at the exit and the other potty by the train station was closed we stopped by Starbucks for hot chocolate and a potty break before heading back to Gigi and Pop's house. A very yummy treat.

Houston Christmas

The day after Christmas we celebrated with Pop's side of the family - one of this brothers lives 2 miles away from Gigi and Pops and had his kids and grandkids in town and his two sisters, one of my cousins and her kids came over to Houston - only missing one of his brothers, his kids and grandkids. 23 of us in all. :) We had yummy food and another round of Christmas present opening.

Lexie received a baby food blender and baby food for her bitty baby and she was a very happy girl to put baby in her new high chair and feed her!

We had a cousin sleepover and the girls (older than preschool) slept over at Gigi and Pops and the boys at my uncle's house. I'd think we had the less rowdy group but they weren't as inclined to sleep as the boys were (as Abby told me sleepovers aren't for sleeping Mommy!) and they were up until almost 1 am only pretending to sleep when someone peeked in  at them.

They all sat around and played with Abby and Micah's zoo set the next morning.
The girls hanging out while we were trying to coordinate plans between all 23 people!
Micah loves his zoo set (Though mommy at times questions it because of how many tiny pieces it has but it's so cute and awesome!)
We finally were able to coordinate a lunch at Lupes (my favorite!) and ate a very yummy lunch.

One benefit of a Houston Christmas - an uncle with a pool that he heated up for the grandkids. The kids loved being able to swim. Come spring break we'll hopefully be swimming in Pop's pool (swimsuit season workouts here I come!)
Micah and Abby both love jumping over the waterfall ledge into the pool.
Lexie had both Pops and Daddy wrapped with her cute little smile to take her in the pool and constantly switch between pool and hot tub at her whim.
After nap one day (one of the only days she took a good nap while there because she was too excited to settle down and take a good nap other days) She woke up with some impressive bedhead! She also woke up hungry and gobbled up some yogurt.
We kept busy and had lots of fun playing with Gigi and Pops and our cousins while in Houston!

Christmas Day 2013

After  giving everyone some time to play with their new toys, we loaded up and drove to Houston to see Gigi and Pops, Uncle Jeremy and also Mimi and Pappy (Gigi's parent, my grandparents, the littles great-grandparents) for Christmas dinner and Christmas round two.

Everyone was so excited to see Gigi and Pops and run around their new house, especially looking at their (empty - under construction) pool.

Lexie as quite taken by Gigi's dancing, singing and jumping Santa!
Lexie's favorite spot in the house was the balcony upstairs over looking the living room. She would run upstairs look downstairs and giggle.
Abby sat down and made bracelets for most everyone with her new rainbow loom.
Lexie was happy to show Pappy all of Micah's new Jake and the Neverland Pirate toys.
Then after Christmas dinner it was time to open more presents. Micah was very excited about the new zoo set that he and Abby received.
Abby (and Lexie) received light up slippers like Micah already had and they love them!

It was a great family filled day with more family coming in the next day!
