I love the Nativity Scene in Christmas decorations. My inlaws gifted me the Willow Tree Nativity over a period of a couple years for my birthday and Christmas. This year I saw the perfect easy nativity decoration to decorate my bar (my make shift not quite a mantle because I don't have a mantle.) So I got to work and made it.
This was my inspiration on her faux mantle. Which I think at some point I'd like to create a faux mantle as well but I don't have a good wall to put it on so it may have to wait.
This was really simple to make using my Silhouette. I bought a 1x6 and had the hubs cut it into 2 ft sections. Then I painted them with the colors I had selected. I couldn't decide which color I wanted and I'm making my mom one as well so I got a few colors to try out. I bought a shiny red, a light blue aquamarine color and a forest green. I love both the red and the forest green. I think I'm going to do a different design on the aquamarine.
While they dried I cut out the designs on white vinyl using the silhouette cutter. Then I sanded the edges of the wood to give it a not quite perfect/rustic-ish feel. Then I used transfer tape to apply my scene with the white vinyl. Super simple and I love it! If you don't have a Silhouette you can follow the pinterest link and purchase the vinyl scene from the original pinner and make your own that way.

Christmas isn't all shopping and Elf mischief though and to bring the story back to the real meaning of the Season we've been following this advent reading plan using our Jesus story book Bible. This makes a great addition to our bedtime stories. I'm so thankful I came across this on pinterest!
Have a wonderful Monday!
