Last night, I had the pleasure of attending a blogger event before the grand opening of the new See's Candies store in the North Star Mall. How pretty do all of these candies and displays of various sets you could get look?
This is the assistant manager at the store showing off the special Texas box for the grand opening. I felt like every time we turned around one of the friendly staff was there offering us a sample of one candy or another (in a good way!) I have quite the sweet tooth and I left totally satisfied. I think a few of my favorites including the dark chocolate truffle and of course I always love a good peanut butter cup and these did not miss the mark.
You know that iconic I Love Lucy scene where Lucy and Ethel are packing candies and can't keep up? That was actually filmed in See's Candies plant. So you know what happens next? We all got a chance to try our hand at packing a box. Hairnets and all. Ya'll can now see how we are clearly the most fashionable bloggers around rocking our hairnets. (And we got to take home the box that we packed... yum!)Charles A. See founded See's Candies back in 1921 in LA. He used his mother, Mary's recipes for the candies and some of those recipes are still used today. They use only the freshest ingredients, no high fructose corn syrup or dyes. So you can feel less guilty about indulging in the deliciousness of it all!
In the mall for the grand opening are two of the delivery vehicles that See's Candies used to use to deliver candies to the movie stars in LA. How cute is the side car to carry the candy on this motorcycle?
See's Candies gives out over 1 million pieces of candy each year. Every customer who comes in the store gets a free sample. So what are you waiting for? If you're in town you need to head over and try something!
