It's beginning to look like Christmas

(and feel like it too with our current cold front! BRR!)

Last week - on December 1st, we headed out to pick out a Christmas tree. I have fun memories from my childhood of going to pick out a real tree and the smell of the real tree. I want Abby and Micah to have that as well so instead of setting up the same tree we've used the past couple years, we headed out to buy a real one.
Abby and Micah had a lot of fun looking, smelling, touching all the trees. Especially the little ones and picking up the branches on the ground. (What else did I expect? Just like in our backyard!)
We brought the tree home and Beau set it up in our living room. By the way, real trees look a whole lot taller in the house than they do next to other bigger trees! It's big but I love it! It however makes my new tree skirt look tiny!
Up close of the no-sew ruffle tree skirt my mom and I made. I love it!
Today we completed the decorating of the tree. Abby and Micah could not wait for this! Abby must have asked over two dozen times Thursday afternoon after getting the tree, the few minutes we were home before our Austin weekend on Friday and all Sunday afternoon after we got home! That's a lot of asking for not that much time!

I let the kids help as much as I could (trying to keep them away from the breakable ones!) so I think I'll be doing a little rearranging of ornaments later and adjusting the tulle. I could also use a few more filler ornaments but I didn't see any I liked at Hobby Lobby or Target today so we may just go with this for this year and get more for next year.
Check it out - I've got presents wrapped under the tree already too! I'm about 2/3rds done with my shopping and most of the ones I have left I just need to go purchase but already have the idea for. Only a few that I'm still figuring out what to get.

If you can't tell from the new header and sidebar pictures we also did Christmas card pictures today. I say this every time but man it's hard to get a good picture of both kids! I think next year I either need   a lot of practice or I am going to actually splurge and get some fabulous family pictures taken by a professional! A 6.5 year old, 3.5 year old and an almost 1 year old will be awfully tricky next Christmas! I need to go order my cards now so they might just make it out in time to arrive before Christmas!

I love the picture in your header! It's adorable! I finished up my shopping Wednesday. I'll be spending the day wrapping tomorrow.
