Praising God for the RAIN!

Last night after the kids were sound asleep a huge storm rolled in. It was so loud and so close it woke me up and I had trouble sleeping through the thunder. I don't know how long it lasted with the downpour, thunder and lightening but it seemed like hours. I was thankful though because we desperately need the rain here. It's been about 10-11 months since we've gotten a substantial amount of rain. We've had a few rain storms here and there in the last couple weeks but small ones that pass quickly. I was also thankful that both kids slept through it. This morning we woke up and it was still raining outside. Not as heavy but enough to need an umbrella for Church.

After Church the kids couldn't wait to go splash in the puddles in the yard. So they threw on some clothes (or just a shirt for Micah since I knew they wouldn't stay clean long and it was warm enough!) The rain was down to a very light drizzle so off they went. Time to break in the rain boots for their intended purpose for the very first time. (Maybe if I hadn't bought them rain boots in the spring we would have had rain?)

Micah's able to put them on himself.... even if they did even up on the wrong feet. He can actually wear them without them falling off or him falling down now. :)
What is this puddle?
The kids (and dog) enjoyed a game of follow the leader walking back and forth through the stream of water that ran through the yard.
Splish, splash....
Then came the jumping!

Micah got to be a pretty good splasher!  (That's Uncle Jeremy's dog Zeus in the background - the one we were dog sitting this weekend)
They had an absolutely fabulous time splashing in the puddles - and amazingly didn't get too wet or dirty. I can't think of a better time for kids than to be able to splash in puddles - especially since it's been so long since we've had rain.
