Favorite things party

Last Friday night I invited some of my sweet girl friends over for a much needed girl's night in. Often we end up going out to eat together somewhere but it's loud, hard to talk and once you are done eating you can't really sit around and talk. I had found this on Pinterest and thought it would make a fabulous girl's party.

The blogger/graphic designer was so sweet to share her files so I could print out these darling invitations.
Everyone brought 5 (of the same) item that cost less than $6. Then we wrote our names on 5 slips of paper, put them in a bowl and those are who you gave your 5 items to. I made little gift bags for everyone to take home their goodies in. I invited everyone to bring their favorite appetizer or dessert so we had tons of yummies to eat all evening.
Here are a few of the goodies that I got. Some of the favorites were a cute hat (for those bad hair days!), yummy smelling fancy soap, nail polish & chocolate for some pampering, notebook for all those things our mommy brains might forget or to give a child something to do in a store, dish soap that will soften our hands while we do our daily chores, and a cute tumbler for drinks.
I joked to Beau that I was basically throwing myself an early birthday party (since my birthday is next week) but this way everyone got to go home with presents. We pretty much only spent what we could have spent on eating out together and got to go home with things we likely would not have bought ourselves.

It was a lot of fun to chat and get to know everyone a little better as we learned what some of each other's favorite things were. I seriously think a fun girl's night in should be something we do every month!
