Meet the Teacher

Tonight reality hit. My baby girl really, actually starts real school, kindergarten on Monday. We had meet the teacher night tonight. So we walked over to the school (a good idea because the parking lot was way crowded and bad idea because 5 pm is the hottest part of the day!) Abby's teacher had called and left a message introducing herself earlier this week but when we got to the school we were able to see the class lists and her room number. We found our way inside the school to her class. Abby was all excited up until we walked in the room to meet her teacher.... then she got shy and didn't want to talk.

She found out where her seat was and was able to put a box of crayons and her scissors into her cup.
the blurry/strange area is where I attempted to edit out our last name
Then all the rest of her supplies went into her cubby.

Once we had put her supplies in their places she got to explore the room while I filled out an information sheet for her teacher. She loved this cash register. She and Micah pretended to buy things for a long time.
She also liked the little rocking chair and magazine rack. She didn't want to get up and look at anything else until she was done reading through that magazine.
Can you see she's wearing one of her new shirts? After the gym this morning I decided we'd brave Kohls on tax-free weekend because I had a $10 off $10 purchase coupon. I let Abby pick out a couple shirts all by herself. She found a Hello Kitty and a Disney Princess shirt.  Maybe not the shirts I would have picked but she was thrilled and that's what counts right? I figure a couple character shirts in her wardrobe won't hurt as long as she doesn't try to wear them every day.

Hope everyone has a good weekend! I'm not sure what our plans are yet. Maybe finally getting around to that haircut for Micah that I've been putting off all week? Oh and an ever so exciting trip to HEB so we have lots of options for packing Abby's lunch box next week.
