Mentoring Moms and Cupcakes

This evening was the second mentoring moms of the year. I really enjoy this wonderful program our Church has to give moms to young children encouragement and just a wonderful time of fellowship with friends new and old. A couple of my close friends joined me and we got to meet new friends, enjoy a meal and fellowship and talk about how to argue with our husbands. How to argue with our husbands? Hmm... that doesn't sound quite right now does it?

Then after I got home and got the kids asleep and tucked into bed I whipped up some cupcakes. In the  kids Bible classes tomorrow while their moms go to Bible study there will be a party and carnival and I signed up to bring something sweet for Abby's class. (At least I'm thinking that's what I signed up to bring - let's home my memory is right or else everyone might have a sugar high after class tomorrow!) I kept it pretty simple for the kids - chocolate cake with frosting and sprinkles. Though because I rarely like to do things simple I had to try out a new frosting recipe I'd been thinking about trying. This is what the Pioneer Woman calls The Best Frosting I've Ever Had.  Then after frosting the cupcakes I dunked them in some sprinkles for fun.
Now that I've tried the frosting I would say that my personal tastes prefers a nice yummy buttercream over this frosting. Though I didn't try it as a whole with the cake which may make a little bit of a difference (only make enough cake for 12 cupcakes so no extras to taste - which is probably a good thing considering how much halloween candy is in this house right now!)

As far as arguing with your hubs goes (and good luck with Beau :) ) one trick I heard, though I haven't tried yet, was to argue naked. I know right! But, the idea is that it's really hard to stay upset with someone if you are both naked, and, on top of that, it will more than likely make the hubs give in a little quicker than he normally would, lol.
