gardening

Today Beau tackled the yard. He did some weed-eating, mowed the grass/weeds (we also sprayed weed killer around last week) He added in some grass seed stuff to try and fill in the bare spot in the back. He set up hoses/sprinklers to make it easy to water. Then we planted some tomatoes and peppers in the back yard. We haven't gotten to the flower bed yet.
Abby and I did pick out a couple flowers to put in some pots. Abby chose this pretty geranium to go in the pot by our front door. (Gigi - I did go back and add dirt in the other pots - I realized it was too low after I took the picture but didn't retake another picture!)
Beau also took out the goofy looking tree that was in the front yard. There used to be two - one in front of some of the rose bushes which he chopped down last year and then another one in the front part by the drive way. He was tired of it and cut it down today. See?
Now it's here. Along with some of the bottom branches from the other trees so he could walk under them to mow. These are some before pictures of the yard - it was mowed afterwards. Hopefully it will green up some!
Micah really enjoyed getting to get down in the grass and play around. He "helped" me weed the front beds some by pulling on the grass like mommy was doing to the weeds. His feet, knees, hands and booty were dirty after that!
We got new sand for Abby's sandbox and set that up yesterday. Abby loved it - we haven't played with it all winter so it was like a new toy to her and of course a new toy to Micah as well. He liked it and since the sand would slip out of his hand before he could eat it I was fine with letting him play. They both of course ended up in the sandbox so baths were necessary before dinner!
Oh and as an end to the day Beau managed to find Abita Strawberry at HEB to go with the yummy hamburgers he grilled for us.

You guys must have spring fever! Or cabin fever!?
That was a lot of work! I hope you will have a milder summer this year and all your work will pay off in a great garden and beautiful yard.
Hope you all are not too sore today!

Beau, please save me an Abita strawberry to try!
I hope they are still around when we come for birthday/graduation!
