decorating help

We got some new to us furniture yesterday. {Thanks Grandma and Grandpa!} Now I need decorating advice!
Here's the view from the stair case
and from the front door

Now the main question: curtains or leave it the way it is. Curtains would certainly make it look nice but are they necessary or do we go without?

Here is an some option I found at Target to contemplate feel free to suggest others.

or a solid brown?

or something else not too expensive?

Any other decorating ideas? (Besides picking up Beau's workout bag before taking the picture?)

I still like the plaid. I would suggest that you get a sample and see how they look with the furniture.
The curtains would really make the room look warm and more "finished"

I like solid colored curtains personally, plus they tend to block the light better which can really help the utility bill. The only thing they are a little less forgiving when they get dirty from puppy fur or baby mess.

I think I do like the plaid look best. Although solid would be fine too. And I agree, some type of curtains would make the room warmer. Great furniture by the way!

I can't believe I didn't see those little sweeties in the pictures!!! So cute, Micah playing by the shelves and the two of them playing together in front of the chaise.
