slinging little teddy

Abby got her sling out and wore little teddy (a beanie baby teddy) around the house during quiet time. I managed to snap a couple pictures but according to Abby little teddy didn't want his picture taken so he's tucked down in the sling.
More so I took this as an opportunity to play around in Lightroom. Adobe has a beta version of Lightroom 3 out that anyone can download {for free!} until April. It's fun to work it. Lots of things you can do with it to post process the pictures. I'm still mainly working with the basics - either color or b&w before I get into doing all sorts of other things. I find Lr {lightroom} a little easier to edit/post process with but PS elements has a little more room to play and do other stuff with. Lightroom is essentially a darkroom ya know for your computer.

"miss p" party

Last night I had a girls night out {and Micah.} My friend threw a "miss p" party for the Miss America pageant where we watched the pageant while eating pizza, popcorn, potato chips and pop. So I going along with the P theme made some Valentines cake Pops!

It was a lot of fun to hang out and have a girls night to chat and watch the pageant that of course no husbands would have wanted to watch. It had been way too long since I had had a girls night out!

Speaking of cake pops. Always when I'm about half-way through making them somewhere in between rolling the balls {messy!} and dipping them in the chocolate bark {also messy!} I think to myself I'm never making these again. They're too much trouble.... Yet then I bite into one whenever I take them where ever I end up taking them to and remember oh yea they are oh so yummy. Plus they get a great reception every time. You can't go wrong with cake pops!

Are you ready....

For yoga? We are! Early too which is good because it's crowded today!

Before and after

A blog I stumbled across the other day Pixel Perfect had a blog hop today showing off some edits. So I went through my old pictures and picked one to play around with today. It's probably not the best editing job as I did it quickly but it looks decent.
Here's the SOOC (straight out of the camera) shot

Here's the edited version. The colors are brighter and more vivid.

I've become increasingly addicted to my photography lately. Including editing my pictures. Unfortunately there isn't enough time in the day between the baby, the pre-schooler (ack did I just say she was a preschooler?!), the husband and ya know all the things that go along with that like cooking, cleaning, and playing. So I'll continue to learn little by little and take those little hints and apply those as I learn them.

Today after Bible class we went out to lunch with some friends to celebrate a birthday. Abby had fun with her friends. She even tried a fried pickle and ate a couple!

They took over a second table after they finished eating and pretended to eat some more by using the salt, pepper and ketchup containers.

{H} hearts

We started out by making glitter heart prints. I gave Abby some construction paper, a heart shaped cookie cutter and a plate with glue.

*Please ignore the goofy face - she doesn't like smiling normally for the camera.

After the paper was covered in glue hearts she used glitter to shake onto the paper and cover the glue.

And the final product:

Then we did a letter project. Abby said she didn't want to do more hearts so instead of hearts we did H is for Hands {I was going to do H is for Hearts}

Check it out - She wrote the A in her name all by herself! She can also tell me how to spell her name but can't write the -bby yet.

3 shirts

2 pairs of pants

1 pajama top

2 pairs of pajama pants

...... is what Abby wore during her quiet time.

I have to say it was so adorable when she changed into her pajamas, got a blanket, her lampy and read books to lampy while sitting in her pink chair {the same one she took a nap in yesterday and almost did today.} I wished my camera had been handy and I had a zoom lens to get a good picture of that without her being disturbed.

*She has quiet time in her room with her door open and I can see into her room from my bed where I was nursing Micah convincing him that he needed more than a 30 minute nap.

happy birthday

Happy Birthday to you!

Happy Birthday to you!

Happy Birthday Auntie Scarlett!

Happy Birthday to you!

Hope you are having a great birthday and that Nick is doing a great job spoiling you today! We can't wait until we get a chance to see you again!

not me!

Believe it or not it's Monday again! That means it's time once again to confess to what we haven't been up to this past week. You can check out what everyone else has not been up to at Mckmama's blog so you don't feel alone in your confession.

This is not what our bed looked like Sunday morning. Nope our preschooler would never join us in our bed in the middle of the night. Nope. {In fact it really wasn't what our bed looked like because there is no baby in this picture!} That couldn't be the influence that led Abby would have put all her doll house people into the same bed. {Well that or the fact that there is only one bed for the whole doll house family!} It's also not me that enjoys being able to see my little one's faces on the mornings that they end up joining us even if it means I have to share a little more bed space than I would like.

So what have you not been up to this week?

Good morning sweet babe. How are you today?

Did you sleep well?

You're just too cute to not just take a little nibble of this morning.

What's that? It's hard to sit up when you are laughing so hard and you get so bouncy and excited?

So sorry my sweet baby. The sound of your laughter filling the room is just too hard to resist.

Hope everyone is having a wonderful morning today!

Valentine's cards

Abby and I made some Valentine's cards. We got the idea for these cards from a friend of mine and they turned out so cute! We started by cutting some scrapbook paper I had into squares. {A good way to work on cutting skills}

Then we took those pieces and glued them onto a piece of construction paper.

Then I traced hearts onto the back of the construction paper we had just covered in the scrapbook paper and cut out those hearts.

We took those hearts and glued them onto some white cards. I got out the modge podge to make sure everything stayed glued and put a little onto the top of the hearts/cards and let Abby paint that across.

The end result:

seven minute sprint or five minute frenzy

My friend (also former girl's Bible study leader in high school) has a blog {I still hate pickles} and she posted about doing a five minute frenzy at the end of the evening. I thought that sounded like a great idea because generally at the end of the day I'm looking forward to bedtime, the kids going to sleep and having some peace and quiet to lounge in the bed blogging, watching TV, or hanging out with Beau.  I decided to give it a shot tonight. Of course I waited until the little ones were asleep as I can get so much more done in those 5 or so minutes if I don't have one (or two) children wanting something during that time. I decided that I'll pick one room to do this in per night. Whichever room I want. Tonight I choose the bedroom. I didn't really time it, just picked up enough so the room looked neat and most everything was put back in it's place.

If Beau gets on board with this idea (which I'll likely propose to him tomorrow) then likely we'll tackle three rooms a night because I intend to also implement this idea with Abby and have her help me with either her room or the playroom each night. We used to try to clean up before bath/bedtime every night but that was before Micah and generally 7-8 has been his cranky hour so we've just been surviving through bedtime as best we can but he's been less cranky lately as he has finally adjusted from 3 to 2 naps a day and can go longer between his naps.

For now I'm going to just enjoy my clean bedroom.

You should have mail soon!

ups and downs

Abby's eyes have started to show some improvement as of this afternoon. Very little discharge or wateriness. Still pretty red though.

Micah tonight when he woke to nurse seemed to have some discharge which was Abby's first sign Monday night before her eyes turned pink on Tuesday afternoon. Here's to hoping and praying that it was just some sleep in his eyes and not, please not, him getting pink eye.

*Friday afternoon update: Had a little more discharge this morning but none since then and his eyes aren't pink yet - still hopeful he won't get it*

Bath and Body works soaps don't dry my hands out with the 50 gazillion times I've washed my hands each day.

I've been seriously slacking in taking pictures these past two weeks while we've having various people in our family being sick. So sorry for the lack of pictures the past couple days.

Dr. Appointment

We called the pedi yesterday to see if they wanted to see Abby. They transferred us to a nurse line for the whole system (as our pedi's office is part of a set of 5 or 6 different clinics) so on the nurse line they make it seem like she needs to be seen immediately and makes us an appointment with a different doctor instead of waiting an extra day to see our regular pedi.

So we went today for the appointment and waiting in all about 2 hours to see the dr. for maybe 5 minutes. Frustrating. Especially to have her say that most pink eye is viral and doesn't need antibiotics but here I'll give you the prescription anyway even though I'm pretty sure it's not bacterial. Does that make any sense to anyone? If she doesn't need it then she doesn't need it. I'm not a mom that needs to medicate my child just because there is medicine available. Doesn't the overuse of antibiotics lead to it not working as well over time for the stuff it's supposed to treat?

Then she went on about cough medicine. All the lovely stuff they practically pulled off the shelves last year. Yes I'm aware that likely it was parents giving their kids more than they really needed and such but if something is getting pulled off the shelves and has been said to not be that effective then should I really give it to my child just because I can if she isn't bugged by it?

I wish we could have just seen our regular pedi and I'll know better for next time to try and make sure we get seen by her instead of someone else.

FYI: Drops of breast milk is supposed to really help. Why didn't I think of this yesterday? I knew it's the cure all of cure alls (kinda like they thought windex was in My Big Fat Greek Wedding) but yet my mind didn't go there yesterday.
