Who needs toys anyway?

As much as the kids love their new toys they got for Christmas I think we might have been better off just finding lots of random sized boxes and associated packing material.

Christmas with Grandma and Grandpa

Abby was tired after our day of driving the day before and having to wake up early for Church so she feel asleep on the way to Grandma and Grandpa's house that afternoon. She had some cuddles with Grandma as she woke up some. She was so tired she said she didn't want to open presents but she got past that pretty quickly.

Micah and Grandpa played high five while we waited for Abby to wake up.

Doesn't he look handsome in his new clothes? Thanks Aunt Cheryl and Aunt Gwen!

Daddy and Micah got a joint present. Micah was ready to play! Catch daddy!

Abby and I got a joint present of a 100 cookie cutters - we're going to have lots of fun! Anyone have ideas of things we can make with them that aren't sugar cookies as I have a fitness competition to win and maybe hopefully eventually some Lululemon I want to get.

Micah got a basketball goal that will grow with him as well. He really enjoys playing with the balls.

Micah also got the biggest present {in size} of the day. An elephant!

Then Micah passed out from all the excitement {after a diaper change and losing his pants}

It was a wonderful time had by all! Thanks for spoiling us Grandma and Grandpa! Happy Birthday Grandpa! We can't wait to celebrate on Wednesday!

Not me

Welcome to Not Me! Monday! This blog carnival was created by MckMama. You can head over to her blog to read what she and everyone else have not been doing this week.

Over the holidays I did not enjoy way to many sweets.

I do not have a sweet imperial sugar Dr. Pepper waiting on me in the fridge for the perfect opportunity to drink it. Sorry Gigi! I am not regretting not buying out Buckees of all of the Imperial Sugar Dr. Pepper they had.

I am not enjoying watching my two kids play with Micah's new busy zoo from Santa right now and I am not savoring this moment of quiet peaceful play between the two.

My kids are not currently more interested in playing with the boxes than the new toys they got. Nope not my kids. They would never choose a box over all the cool toys they got.

I am not sad that my parents will leave Wednesday to go back to the cold and snow in Paris.

I am not annoyed that blogger puts extra spaces in all my posts! Not in the least. It does not drive me nuts!

I do not have a pile of laundry to wash, bags to unpack and toys to put away still because I was on top of it all and did all that yesterday. Nope not me. I would have never chosen to take a nap instead of tackle all those tasks yesterday.

So do you have any not me's this week? Want to leave me a comment with your not me this week?

Christmas round one

The start of our Christmas festivities began with a present exchange with Gigi and Pops. Ordinarily this would be done on Christmas eve but if you remember a little post from a while back about my little problem we opted to exchange presents early so we didn't have to take that large box to and from Baton Rouge.

Micah couldn't wait to open presents! The bright colors, bows and ribbons were just too much for a baby to resist!

Abby surprisingly took a little while to warm up to opening presents but she sure didn't hesitate to try anything on once it was opened!

Micah can finally be a true Tiger fan with his very own LSU outfit!

Gigi and Pops got to open their presents. I was so very excited to give Gigi her presents because I'd been keeping that a secret for some time now. (That story will have to be another blog post!)

And finally last but not least the mystery big box was brought downstairs. What could it be?

A doll house from Gigi and Pops!

Amazing

We made it home safely with very little fussing from either child! They were both so good. Micah slept for almost the whole first 3 hours, took a short potty break, got back in went another little while with only a tiny bit of fussing from Micah until we took a break for dinner. After dinner Micah took a short nap the woke up and was a little upset about still being in the car and I managed to cram myself in the back and sing songs to keep both kids happy until we made it to Buckees a short while later. Then after Buckees within maybe 10 minutes both kids were out sleeping until we reached home and both transferred into bed with very little problems!

Now if you could promise this same behavior every car trip maybe we'd travel more but from the ride over I know it can be worse (not that they were bad just had to have more out of the car time)

Though I'm glad to be home. I'm ready to get back into our routine. Not that seeing and spending time with family wasn't great but while my kids used to be easy going and easy to adjust I noticed over this trip that they do benefit greatly from our routine we have at home and behave much better when they have that routine and get enough sleep. Two things they didn't really have while we traveled. I'm not saying they were bad - just a little more rambunctious, easily out of control or crabby.

All in all it was a great Christmas.

Blanket anyone?

Abby made one of wipees on leg number one of our car trip back.
Ordinarily I wouldn't approve of the use of wipes like that but for
the amusement and sanity it provided the .25 cents worth of wipes was
well worth it in my mind!

Look at that concentration

If only she'd concentrate that hard on falling asleep tonight instead of fighting it that hard!

Ballet Gloria

Last Monday we had our "recital" for our Ballet Gloria program. This program has been such an awesome experience. The girls that teach the classes are sisters that are in the San Antonio Ballet Company and teach classes at our Church for free. It isn't a traditional dance class but they do so some work on the different positions and techniques. They instead focus on teaching them to dance for the Father.

They put so much work into the party they threw for the girls (and a couple boys too!) There were 5 different crafts for the kids to do - making crowns (Princess crowns since they are Princesses of the Father) or whatever else they wanted to make out of pipe cleaners, there were strips of fabric with pony tail holders to make pretty pony tail holders, card stock to make holiday cards or gift tags, hand/face painting and beaded candy cane making. Abby seemed to enjoy both the painting of her hand and making the beaded candy cane. She did such an excellent job beading the pipe cleaner all by herself!

There were also books set up in an adjoining room to the open area we were in to read Christmas and ballet stories. Then the mom of the ladies that teach the class is apparently a photographer and she set up a mini-studio to take pictures of everyone. We got one of Abby and then another one of Abby and Micah together. They are so cute! I wish I had a scanner to share with them with ya'll!

{That's Abby's teacher there painting a snowman on Abby's hand}

Then we all went down the hall and the girls practiced then did a little recital showing all the parents and other classes what they have learned so far this fall. Abby's class did their Princess walks on releve across the floor. They also recited along with all the other classes the memory verse they have been working on learning this semester. 1 Peter 1:1-3

I took a video of Abby doing her walk across the floor and will upload it later. These photos are from her showing me her Princess walk between their practice round (where she kind of walked across the floor with her fingers in her mouth) and when they did it for everyone (where she walked on releve with holding the teachers hand, actually did the full turn in the middle and then finished walking! yay!)

Not me

It's that time again. Ya know where I tell everyone that reads this exactly what we have NOT been up to. Join in if you want and tell me (by leaving me a comment!) what you have not been up to.

I did not do about 50 loads of laundry since I had slacked to clear up my laundry room before my parents arrived on Friday. At least it felt like I did not do 50 loads of laundry.

I did not have cinnamon rolls (homemade!) cheese fries and cold stone in one day. I also did not hurry Abby upstairs for her bath before Jeremy got back so that I didn't have to share any ice cream with her.

I do not think that I have the most awesome family ever. Okay I lied there. I really do think that. Love ya'll bunches and bunches! (And I promise not just because it's Christmas and there are presents being passed out!)

Photoshop elements giveaway

There is a giveaway going on here at The Grammie Diaries for Photoshop Elements 8.

Hurry up and enter if you want to get a chance to win. It's an excellent photo editing software. I'm still debating on if I want to eventually get the smaller photoshop elements (which is really probably all I'd ever need) or the bigger fancier full blown photoshop. But hey if I win this then I won't need to make a decision!

Cookies!

Piping is HARD! (almost as hard as getting Beau's computer to cooperate with me to post this!)

Why is it that Abby always seems to be wearing this red shirt whenever we make something? (She was wearing it when we made playdough as well)

Aren't they pretty?

Amazing memory

When we were in Paris at one location you had to be 4 to ride a pony. At the forth worth stockyards she saw ponies again and said to me when she was 4 she would be able to ride a pony she we went with that. Just on our last car ride with no ponies in sight out of no where she asked if she was 4 yet so that she could ride a pony. :)

Ballet

Working on our memory verse at the end of ballet class 1 Peter 1:1-3

Ballet

We've had our best day of ballet yet we did a majority of what Miss
Oliva asked us to do, answered two of her questions instead of none
and walke on releve instead of just walking across the room. Yay!

Christmas preparations

Christmas decorations are mostly up!

Hot chocolate has been enjoyed (several times!)

All but 5 (I think) presents have been purchased.

None have been wrapped.

Now to decided what I want for Christmas - maybe to fix my compter but that's not nearly as fun as the baby wrap (carrier - yes I have an addiction!) or Photoshop that I've been looking at.

So in case you missed my Twitter -and facebook panicking yesterday my computer decided to up and die or at least the screen did - out of no where. So blogging will be limited with fewer much lower quality pictures. Thank goodness for a large memory card in my camera or I'd be in trouble because I don't want to stop taking pictures!
