Recalls

http://cpsr-rspc.hc-sc.gc.ca/PR-RP/recall-retrait-eng.jsp?re_id=889#images

Ugh... I'm off to hide one of Abby's favorite toys for now. At least until I know more information. The Melissa and Doug Slice and Bake Cookie set was recalled in Canada about two weeks ago. I can't find any information on a recall in the US yet but with a baby that mouths everything that he can find I really don't want to take any chances. The one we have isn't from the same batch number as the one tested but the UPC is the same. Not sure I trust it even if it is from a different batch.

Back a year or so ago when they had all the massive amounts of recalls on a bunch of plastic toys I felt really good about the toys I choose to buy for my kids. We probably have fewer toys than we could but I feel good about that. They play with all their toys and don't forget about some because they have so many and I try to buy quality toys that will last and that I feel are safe. Melissa and Doug used to be one of those companies. They are made in China so I felt a little iffy but they said repeatedly that they did test their toys and stood behind them. Right now I'm not so sure.

Maybe it's just shock as this is the first time we've had a toy that's been recalled or maybe we'll find another brand to buy. I'm not quite sure right now.

Good thing I didn't get their cupcake set for Abby. Almost did though.
